Mayor Announces Press Secretary

Mayor Dwight C. Jones announced today that he has designated Tammy D. Hawley to be his Press Secretary. Hawley will begin her service to the City on Monday, January 12, 2009. “Tammy Hawley’s substantial experience in the public and private sector will serve the City well,” said the Mayor. “She will provide a comprehensive approach to City communications that will help our services and our messages. I am pleased that she has accepted this essential position in my administration.” Hawley, a native of Richmond , attended John Marshall High School and has a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University ’s School of Business . She also has training from the Executive Leadership Institute at Indiana University . She has served as chief operating officer and chief development officer for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and as the executive general manager for the Afro-American Newspapers Company. Special Election Tuesday, January 6, 2009

The special election to fill Mayor Dwight C. Jones’s 70th District House of Delegates seat takes place Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters living in the following City precincts are eligible to vote in this election: 402, 508, 609, 701, 702, 703, 705, 806, 811, 812, 814, and 903. Certain residents of Henrico and Chesterfield may also be eligible, and should contact their local registrar for more information. Mayor Jones Announcement

Mayor Dwight C Jones announced today that he has designated Suzette P. Denslow to be his Chief of Staff. David M. Hicks will serve as his Senior Policy Analyst. In announcing his choices for these key positions, Mayor Dwight Jones stated, “I am very pleased that these two individuals have agreed to serve in these key positions. Both individuals possess valued backgrounds and expertise in the operations of Richmond and municipal government. Their experience will be invaluable in moving Richmond forward."
